Madeira Beach Overview Affectionately known as "Mad Beach" by the locals, Madeira Beach is known for its fun atmosphere and family friendly accommodations. Visiting the Madeira Beach Area Beginning at John's Pass on the southern end of Sand Key and stretching 2-1/2 miles northward, Madeira Beach is a typical fun beach town. With a population of 4,225, the town's main occupation is tourism, followed closely by commercial fishing. Seafood is celebrated each October with a three-day festival at John's Pass Village, the commercial hub of Madeira Beach, and draws over 100,000 people annually. The beach at Madeira is a dazzling white strand that is almost as wide as Treasure Island's. Access to the beach can be gained at several access points along Gulf Blvd., at Johns Pass Park, and at three other city and county run facilities, several of which have concessions and beach rentals. Johns Pass Park offers excellent fishing, a judgment that would seem to be confirmed by jetties filled with anglers. Pelican Pier at Johns Pass Village is another great place to try to land the "big one." |
